Upgrade from 4.2.6 to the newest version on Godaddy Hosting

    Hi,
I'm ready to perform an upgrade from 4.2.6 to the latest version of SS but I'm very confused on what to do.

I want to upgrade but do not want to lose all modifications I've made before and I also want to keep existing customer transaction information as well as products.

Can anyone provide step-by-step guide on what to do from step 1 through final process?

I found this instruction on fresh install of SS on Godaddy hosting but I'm assuming that an upgrade would require a different process.
According to the instruction provided for Godaddy hosting (http://my.twt-inc.com/knowledgebase/...rs-PHP-53.html), I need to download Zend Guard for initial setup.
Do I need to do the same thing?

I already backed up all datas but not sure where to backup database and how to put that backed up database (sql) file to which folder.
Sorry for the noob question and thank you very much for your help in advance.
